What does the SCRAP-IT programme currently offer?
SCRAP-IT’s website lists a CAD 300 cash rebate as its current option, checked on 13 September 2026. The programme controls eligibility and payment. Verify its current instructions before applying; this amount is a programme rebate rather than a Cash For Cars vehicle valuation. Check SCRAP-IT.
What do you check before releasing a vehicle?
Check the programme’s vehicle eligibility, application instructions and approved scrapping arrangements before releasing your car. Follow the instructions supplied with an approved application. Do not assume that a collection arranged independently will satisfy the programme or qualify for its rebate.
The official SCRAP-IT website links to qualification information, programme policies and the application. Use those instructions for the vehicle you intend to submit rather than relying on an old incentive list.
Is a SCRAP-IT rebate a Cash For Cars offer?
A SCRAP-IT rebate and a Cash For Cars purchase offer come from different processes. The rebate follows programme conditions; a purchase offer follows an assessment of your vehicle. Neither process establishes that the other payment will also be available for the same car.
When comparing the options, record the applicable conditions and the amount you would receive under each route. Confirm any proposed combination directly with the programme before relying on it.
How do you compare a separate purchase offer?
You can request an assessment through the free scrap car value calculator before choosing how to dispose of the vehicle. Describe its condition and location. Review the offer and collection arrangements without treating the enquiry as programme approval or committing the same vehicle to two disposals.

How do you avoid relying on an outdated incentive list?
Use the programme’s own current choices and approval instructions for your application. Old articles can describe incentives that are no longer available. A past electric-vehicle rebate, transport credit or promotional amount does not establish what a new applicant receives now.
Keep a copy of the instructions relevant to your application and identify which vehicle the approval covers. Check a change of vehicle or disposal plan with the programme before acting. Do not assume an approval for one car can be transferred to another without confirmation.
What information belongs in your programme decision checklist?
Record eligibility, approval, collection instructions and payment conditions as separate checks. Each answers a different question. Being eligible to apply does not show that a collection has been arranged, and delivering a car independently does not prove that the programme will accept that disposal.

The programme policies provide the conditions to check. Ask the programme about a missing ownership record or an unresolved claim before committing the car. A Cash For Cars enquiry cannot answer eligibility on the programme’s behalf.
How do you compare the two routes without double counting?
Compare the outcome of each route separately unless the programme expressly confirms a combination. List the amount, the required actions and any collection responsibility for that route. Do not add a hypothetical scrap value to a rebate and describe the sum as your expected payment.
Keep the decision open until the relevant terms are clear. Once you choose a route, make sure another buyer is not also expecting release of the same vehicle. This avoids conflicting appointments and an incomplete disposal record.
